Before you sign with a contractor in Arizona, check the license. It takes about 30 seconds, and it protects your money and your home.
What the Arizona ROC does
The Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC) licenses contractors in the state and keeps a public record for each license. Anyone can look a contractor up on the ROC Contractor Search (opens in a new tab).
Why an unlicensed contractor is a risk
The ROC says many of the complaints it receives about unlicensed work come from owners who believed they had hired a licensed contractor. It also says advertising, in print or online, is often not regulated, so an ad or a website does not show that a license exists. Arizona law requires a license when the whole job, labor and materials, costs more than $1,000 or needs a permit.
Check a license in 3 steps
- Open the ROC Contractor Search (opens in a new tab).
- Enter the contractor's 6 digit license number, or the business name.
- Open the record. Check that the license is active, that its class covers your job, and read the complaint and bond details.
Licensed pros only
Every contractor in our network holds an active Arizona ROC license, and we check it before a contractor joins. Tell us about your yard once, and we connect you with a pro who does exactly that. Call (747) 243-2089.
